Dressing the Space Needle for the Fourth of July
It’s the year 2026 and you are now the Mayor of Seattle. You want to do something really special for the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. Big idea! Hang red, white and blue bunting on the widest ring at the top of the Space Needle – your city’s biggest icon. You will probably need to hire mountain climbers to do the job as the Space Needle is over 600 feet tall. (No problem, there are lots of mountain climbers in the Northwest.) The bunting comes in six foot segments and the Space Needle is 138 feet in diameter. How many segments of bunting will you need to dress the circumference of the needle in honor of Uncle Sam?
